CARRIE THORNE

Lead Associate/Trainer for the UK

With over 20 years of teaching, Carrie has worked in every phase of primary schools, from early years foundation stages, to Year 6. Carrie originally trained as a key stage 2 teacher specialising in computing, also teaching years 7-9.

 

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS

During Carrie’s continued educational career, she has added to her experience:

 

  • ‘Creative curriculum lead’

  • SENCO

  • Assessment coordinator

  • Inclusion lead

  • Mentor to NQTs

  • Pastoral lead

  • Attendance officer

  • Nurture teacher

  • Child protection lead

  • Travel liaison lead 

  • and Assistant Head Teacher.

 

TEACHING

As a nurture teacher, Carrie has established several nurture classrooms, managing the environment, staff and children. Most recently, while continuing to work and support schools, Carrie has delivered training nationally and spoken at workshops about the nurture approach. 

 

She has also organised conferences, planned events and acted as a consultant for the project for nurtureuk, now you see us, culminating in Carrie being one of the authors for the publication of, Beyond the Boxall Profile - Whole Class Strategies.

 

Carrie believes that the six principles of nurture are relevant across all age groups, cultures, backgrounds, setting and countries and is looking forward to deliver training on the updates six principles for learning.
